The Varsity Theater in Minneapolis is such a fun and unique wedding venue for photography. From the quirky interior to the personalized marquee, the Varsity offers couples a really romantic and special experience. Earlier this year I joined Jaime and Jeremy to photograph their wedding. We wandered around town a little bit, too.
At the end of the night the couple surprised their guests with an incredibly talented friend posing as the “drunk uncle” leading the whole family into a choreographed dance routine on stage. It was a magical, memorable wedding to be sure.
Living near your hometown (Excelsior, MN in my case) and working as a wedding photographer has a lot of perks. My favorite perk is meeting up with old friends and acquaintances and getting to share some really important, intimate moments with them after years apart. It’s the perfect way to reconnect, but also so rewarding to bring joy in the form of photographs to these old friends and their families. Weddings are planned out, stressed over, and ultimately an incredible day for the lucky couple and I truly enjoy being there to capture everything.
Rachael and Marc are getting hitched in September but we met up recently for some outdoor engagement photos. A little Lake Minnetonka and then one old tree, Marc’s tree in Carver Park. We had sunshine and blue skies as well as a pretty good time catching up.
The perfect combination of classic charm, vintage surroundings and some modern flare from Scott Miller Studios made this wedding a blast to photograph.
Jenny’s flower brooch bouquets fit into the surroundings at St. Clement’s perfectly. We finished the celebration at 413 on Wacouta in Saint Paul with a little rooftop portrait session at sunset. Romance folks, romance.
